"I had been searching all my life, it seemed. And in a sense it was so. For I'd truly come alive as I came to the surface. I was born anew in truth. And ever since I'd searched in blind vigor. I still remember the very day that search ended...The moment I finally came face to face with him...The rogue drow ranger..."
The light chuckle of the couple reached her ears long before Darnzii came within sight of them. Their small campfire, minuscule though it was, seemed a beacon in the stretches of wilderness. At the very edge of the forest they sat looking to one another as the dark elven priestess drew near. Both tensed, lifting cowled heads towards the stranger. "Greetings," the drowess spoke, a edged politeness to her voice.
"'ho are ye?" the female quipped. She reached up gloved hands to toss back her hood, vibrant red hair spilling in wild waves as she narrowed her eyes on the woman in front of her. Darnzii's red eyes burned in her ebony face, a warning to any wise person to be wary. The drow were to be feared and shot on sight. At least, most were. Darnzii's eyes shifted to the elegant bow sitting near to the human woman, and to the swords belted at the pair's hips, noting how the other figure had turned enough to peek from the cowl without illuminating the shadows within to give any clue to identity.
"Darnzii Kla'rlck, of House Kla'rlck, a House Forsaken And No Longer Worth Mentioning, Proud Priestess of Corellon Larethian," she announced, pausing to let her words sink in. And indeed they seemed to take both by surprise. The human female's nose scrunched up as her companion seemed to stiffen and sit all the straighter. Darnzii's head tilted slightly, her expression daring them to challenge her.
"No drow has ever claimed to be in the Elf God's clergy before," came a rich and silken voice from within the forest green cowl. The figure turned just enough that the priestess stranger caught a glimpse of white locks framing a darkened face.
"I am no drow. I am a dark elf, there is a difference," Darnzii sneered in return. She held her head at an incline, putting her hands on her hips. "I was born with this ebony skin but that does not mean I have to taint my heart the same. No..I am no drow. I am a dark elf, and I seek the other that follows my path."
"The other?" the human woman snipped.
"Drizzt Do'Urden." The name seemed to make both scoff. The girl's auburn brows lifted on high with an expression as if trying to hold back a laugh.
"Drizzt don't follow Corellon," she spoke with a quick sidelong glance towards her companion.
Darnzii's eyes narrowed as she drew in a breath. "No. But he follows his heart..the ways of good and right!" The strange note of admiration and pride gave the two pause once more. Again the cloaked male--for indeed she could tell the voice to be male even though he kept himself wrapped in his cloak against the winter chill--spoke.
"You would be the first dark elf to speak so kindly of the ranger that I have ever heard of. Most call him a betrayer, a traitor, a blasphemous--" The sound of metal being drawn silenced him. One white brow lifted as he spread his fingers in a subtle note for his female companion to stay still as she reached for her own blade. Darnzii stood, scimitar drawn, eyes blazing.
"I would not hear such words spoken about Drizzt! You will NOT tarnish his name! Who are you to think yourself so high!?" the drowess cried, voice pitched in a sudden rage.
A moment of silence before: "Who am I?" There was a note in that voice then that made Darnzii pause with a chill touching her spine. The figure's cloak pulled back for just a moment when he'd motioned to his friend. Two blades belted at his hips came into better view. Scimitars of elegant craft. The priestess found her chest rising and falling with sharper breaths, though hardly from anger as her grit teeth began to separate jaw loosening from its tightness.
The male stood, his cloak billowing as he lift his arms. He turned to look towards her, gloved hands at the edges of the hood as he began to draw it back. And that was when she saw them. Twin lavender eyes shining in the shadows staring at out her. Darnzii felt her heart freeze in her breast as her lips parted to gape and her sword's tip touched the ground. Corellon's Blessed Blood....it was...
"I am Drizzt Do'Urden."
ok so that's sorta short and sweet and to the point lol...I don't remember the exact details of the scene this was based off of, when I was RPing Darnzii on Furcadia and found someone RPing "TheDrizztDo'Urden" ( ~Fyedakin ) and I'd gotten thoroughly excited asking if I could play Darnzii meeting him because after all, that was her greatest goal in life. [she's only developed one greater one since then...and that is to gain right to travel on Evermeet heh] It was a long time ago and the details for her storyline couldn't be exactly the same as the RP went since in the RP it was set later after Drizzt's mortal Companions had died and stuff as Fye played him...interesting really...but yeah a whole other story lol.... but yeah.... this is Darnzii caught in such a "flattering" moment at the realization of one of her biggest dreams....meeting good ole Drizzy boy lol....
this is my entry for *Lolth-Scourge's current contest "Ambitions" about drow achieving or failing at their big lifetime goals and stuff. Decided to clean up the lineart and fix Drizzt's blades and finish Darnzii's armor because I so totally had a blonde moment and forgot to finish it in the lineart I just uploaded the other night lol..go me....and add a wee bit of definition of "shading" to it. I admit, yes, it terrified me of trying to color it and ruin it and like lose some of those lil details I crammed in there Drew this mostly without reference, just studying skeletal and muscle structures and the like in my lil "anatomy for fantasy artists" book my bro got me for Christmas....and had to dig out a ref for Darnzii's official armor..couldn't remember exactly what I'd done with her leggings and boots lol.... had to have my bro pose for figuring out how the cowl/cloak folded about the shoulders and hood and how the hands exactly went for Drizzt's pose there....for the life of me I just wasn't getting it heh.... anyways, hope you enjoy it
Dun dun dun... I didn't see that coming. I almost forgot about Drizzt. I remember way back when we were talking about him. But I remember his name so it's all good.

Actually as I looked at this pic and read the story related to it (very well done and paced by the by, even if you say it IS short), I was thinking to myself "This would make a GREAT Ambition entry! Its Darnzi's great ambition succeeded in meeting the great drow ranger that inspires so.
And lo and behold, it IS an entry. Very cool pic and its great to see Darnzi outta the closet
lol awesome!!!! now that's an honor indeed! that you enjoyed it and thought it'd be a great entry....now I know I've succeeded in what I set out to do, no matter whether I place or not ^^ glad you liked the lil snippit I rambled out for it too lol... it certainly was fun to do the scene so very glad you like it and indeed...everytime I put her back into the spotlight I miss her more and more and ache to do something more with her....
Darnzii: I was never in the closet to come out of it...I know what you humans mean by that!
