YAY! I finally get to post this up! hehehehe I've had it finished for a lil bit now but wanted to wait until I finally got everything packed up and shipped out, so that Jules would get it before I showed it here so it would be a surprise for her hehehehe
This was my Christmas present to *queenpantheraleo I wanted to do something unique and special but was also trying to think of something that wouldn't cost a lot [for everyone since money was tight] and figured I already HAD paint and the canvas so... The idea struck me and I decided to try it. And as with all paintings I do, it terrified the crud outta me lol! I did the backdrop to try to imitate the colors of her veil she used in her veil dance with the slight hint of pink/magenta to add in a hint of her outfit's color from that performance. Thought it'd look nice to back the lion and herself in any case hehehe. And then I found a picture of a lioness that really said "Jules" to me and then went to surveying her various different photos from bellydance performances until I found the ones I liked best for a possible painting pose, especially compared with the lioness. Narrowed it down to 2 and had some friends help me pick which pose to go with and then went from there lol. Started with "kittyblob" as I called the lioness before painting in Jules herself. I wanted to do a piece like this to really accent her spiritual namesake in a lioness since Aslana means lioness and Jules favors the cats in any case.
Cuz I am silly nuts for symbolism
She got the painting today and so I'm proud to finally post this hehehehee Took me quite awhile and I was being super uber fussy with it in MANY spots but I was pretty proud of how it turned out. And it has glittery accents in her name and wings lol! woot!
Enjoy
And if you want to see Aslana in action go and view : [link] you won't be disappointed!
Very nice work (and I always love looking at traditional paintings)!
Great costume design and you did a wonderful job on the fabrics. I especially love the lioness. She's extremely well done and so realistic. Very nice work!
Thanks! And yes there is something really wonderful about traditional medium still I thoroughly enjoy playing with acrylics but I have to have a purpose to doing it and it's a long process whereas I'm usually more like "I haz picture in head! to paper with you, now!!!" lol
haha! I can't take any credit for the costume, I was just working off a photo of Aslana herself ^^ [link] that's the outfit and performance I was taking the photo from hehehehe And the lioness I think I found on Google? I don't remember. She was just sitting in my reference folder and I went "yes! you!" lol! She's so pretty and she was fun to do She's off color-wise from the photo I used but hey she looks like a lioness so! Glad you like it hun!!!!
